European Capital of Culture

The European Capital of Culture initiative celebrates the richness and diversity of European cultures while strengthening a shared sense of belonging. Each year, selected cities host a year-long programme of cultural events that celebrate creativity, boost tourism, regenerate urban areas, and enhance their international profile. Since 1985, over 60 cities in the EU and beyond have been awarded the title.
