The European Urban Initiative (EUI) supports cities of all sizes to test and scale up innovative solutions to urban challenges. It helps develop projects that can be transferred across Europe, strengthens cities’ skills in integrated urban development, and provides tools and knowledge notably through its Portico platform. EUI offers 2 main types of support: innovative actions and capacity-building activities. Innovative actions are specifically available for cities with over 50,000 inhabitants, providing direct funding of up to 5 million euros to finance pilot projects. Through capacity-building activities, EUI promotes cooperation between cities and enhances local skills in sustainable and integrated urban development.
